Xzibit lived with his parents and four siblings until his father moved to Mexico and remarried. At age ten, he lost his mother and had to move in with his father in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Inspired by his mother, a writer, he began writing lyrics at age 13 and moved to Los Angeles four years later to pursue his musical career after a fallout with his father.

After signing with Loud records in 1996, he released his debut album “At the Speed of Life” and his second album “40 days and 40 nights” in 1998.

Xzibit got married to his longtime girlfriend, Krista Joiner, in December 2014. Krista had given birth to two children for Xzibit; Xavier Kingston Joiner and Gatlin Joiner (unfortunately, Xavier passed away eleven days after his birth). Xzibit also has another child, Tremaine Joiner, from a previous relationship in 1995. 

In 2007, Xzibit’s license was seized by Dutch police for over speeding in the Gumball 300 rally. Xzibit faced more troubles in 2009 as he owed $9 million to the government for tax. As a result, he filed for bankruptcy twice and was denied both times. 

The rapper faced Backlash with his company name, Napalm, similar to a deadly weapon in the Vietnam war. Xzibit has also had some of his products taken off dispensaries.
