Tropical Smoothie Café is a restaurant franchise that serves breakfast, lunch, supper, and smoothies throughout the day.
It is known for its large selection of smoothies, but it stands apart from other smoothie cafes by also serving high-quality meals.
They definitely have the recipe for success, with locations all over the United States and a presence that spans nearly two decades.
Growing the franchise dramatically over the years, what began as a smoothie store has evolved into a full-fledged eatery as they introduce additional menu items each year.
They have continued to adapt for an expanding market and gain in popularity after nineteen years, with a new logo and upgraded restaurant as of 2014.
Soon after, they understood the importance of expanding their menu, thus food items were introduced in 1999, and the name was changed to Tropical Smoothie Café to reflect the shift.
Things picked up speed after that. They changed the décor in all of its sites in 2005 by adding a beach theme, and by 2006, they had 200 Cafés across the United States.
Tropical Smoothie Café, always health-conscious, began adding vegan products to their already extensive menu of healthy options, and the favorable response was unmistakable.
They stated a month after launching a vegan-friendly beef substitute that it would be a permanent item.
Menu items that were only available for a limited time are now being adopted permanently, such as “Avocalada.”
In 2011, they opened their 300th store, and in 2015, they opened their 400th.
There are plans to open more outlets in order to double their franchise’s nationwide presence.
They even established their own festival, “National Flip-flop Day,” in 2007 to honor their island-style attitudes, This will be commemorated for the ninth time this year next year.
