Mikey Williams was born to Mahlon Williams and Sharon Williams, who guided him when he showed interest in basketball at an early age.
His father was a basketball player, and both parents were able to teach him how to dribble and shoot on a court outside their apartment complex.
Mikey has two siblings, his brother Marvin and his sister Skye (a softball player like their mother).Â
Mikey did most of his early education at home. But, in his elementary years, he kept getting into fights with bullies.

Mikey Williams started playing for the San Diego Sharks, making his first dunk at age 12. Mikey played for the Malcolm Thomas All-Stars road team in middle school, and Naismith National Youth All-American Report ranked him the number one player in the 2023 class.Â
In the eighth grade, he joined the North Coast Blue Chips Amateur Athletic Union team, playing multiple games with Bronny James (his teammate and son of basketball superstar LeBron James). Mikey was also a player on the San Ysidro High School basketball team.
He recorded a win in his high school debut, with over 40 points and five rebounds. Mikey Williams is a record-breaking basketball player, beating Tyrone Shelley’s CIF San Diego Section scoring record, which lasted since 2005.Â
In 2020, the young basketballer announced that he would be changing schools from San Ysidro High School to Lake Norman Christian School in North Carolina. However, after just one season in North Carolina, Mikey joined Vertical Academy, run and coached by his father.Â
Named as one of the top 2023 NBA recruits (by ESPN and 247Sports), Mikey has not been declared for any College. Although, he is interested in playing at Historically Black Universities and has gotten offers from Alabama State, Arizona State, Hampton, Kansas and other universities.Â
