Kyrie Irving was born to American expatriates, Drederick and Elizabeth Irving. He has two sisters and is also the stepson of Shetellia Irving. However, Kyrie lived with his parents in Melbourne, Australia; he moved to the United States when he was two years old. 

At age 4, Kyrie’s mother passed away, leaving him raised by his father and his aunts.

Playing basketball for Montclair Kimberley Academy, Irving won them their first New Jersey Prep’ B’ state title and became the high school’s second 1000 point scorer by the end of his sophomore year.

After that, he sought more professional challenges, making Irving change School to St. Patrick High School. Kyrie Irving led St. Patrick to their third New Jersey Tournament of Champions and a Union County Tournament Championship. 

In 2010, He played on the Junior National Select Team in the McDonald’s All-American Game and won MVP in the Jordan Brand Classic. In addition, Kyrie Irving also played in the FIBA America Under-18 Championship, winning gold with the United States team.

In College, Kyrie averaged 17.4 points per game, 5.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steal playing with the Blue Devils between 2010 and 2011.

Kyrie Irving is a father of two. His first child, Azure Elizabeth Irving, was born in 2015 and is named after Kyrie’s mother, who died in 1996. In 2021, Kyrie Irving had his second child with his girlfriend, Marlene Wilkerson. They announced in a YouTube video, showing the pregnancy journey as a couple.

His consistency as a professional basketball player has been rocky, with Kyrie injured for about 30% of his entire career. He missed over 20 games while playing for Duke, 82 while playing for Cleveland, 56 with Boston and 77 with the Brooklyn Nets (so far).
