History of Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel is a chain of restaurants located in the United States,

Cracker Barrel (also known as Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc.) is an American chain of combined gift stores and restaurants that Dan Evins discovered in 1969. Dan Evins initially started Cracker Barrel to promote his gasoline sales.

The first restaurant of Cracker Barrel opened in Lebanon, Tennessee, and he intended to design the first store in a Southern-style as much he could as Southern cuisines like grits, biscuits and country ham were the main options on the menu.

It led to the development of Cracker Barrel through more and more highway commuters.

Evins was inspired to open more restaurants near gas stations. But in the time of gas shortages in the early 1970s, the brand had to build more restaurants without gas stations, focusing on just restaurant and gift sales revenue.

Nevertheless, Evins longed to expand the brand across the U.S. in little time, so he decided to make the brand public in 1981 to raise funds for expansion. By the end of 1992, the brand had a net worth of over a billion dollars.

The biggest reason for the success of Cracker Barrel is that the brand never failed to improve its menu while expanding into new locations. Still, with that, Cracker Barrel never forgot its roots: the classic southern food and vibe in its restaurants.

Their number of restaurants grew to 420 in the year 2000. This colossal expansion led to more modern technologies in the restaurants to attract more local crowds. 2006, Cracker Barrel decided to step up in its marketing game using new designs in billboard advertisements. The company presently has over 660 stores in 45 states of America.
