Cinnabon started back in 1985, with the first location opened at Federal Way in Washington DC. The idea for the brand came from business partners Ray Lindstrom and Rich Komen, who set a goal to create the best cinnamon roll. With assistance from Jerilyn Brusseau, the trio made the perfect recipe (Cinnabon).
While distributing their signature cinnamon rolls, the dish became a massive hit with the people and the brand became famous overnight. In about eight months of launching their first restaurant, by 1986, they had started their first franchise in Philadelphia state, the first of many more.
These locations are based inside malls to serve the daily shoppers. They eventually opened their first restaurant out of the mall in 1991, in Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. They presently have over 750 locations all over the US, including a few other countries; standalone locations, in malls, universities, airports and casinos.
The brand has seen some changes of ownership since its advent. In 1998 it was bought by AFC Enterprise Inc., who afterwards franchised the chain to Focus Brands in 2004 for $30.3 million. The new owners have continued to stay faithful to Lindstrom and Komen’s vision of serving the best quality products.
They focus on the classic roll and continue expanding their product variety to satisfy every patron.
Each Cinnabon restaurant has a unique, modern ambience. The clean locations feature tiles and panelled wood in pastel colours, and every outlet colourfully bright. Seating can often be limited, As the stores are primarily in malls, however the available seating with chairs and tables is well organized in a suitable dining style.
Their menu is an all-around mouthwatering concoction of cinnamon covered creations. Besides their signature dish, they also offer Cinnasweeties, Minions, Cinnabon Bites, Caramel Pecanbons and Cinnabon Stix.
Asides from their main feature, the most highly rated menu item are the Center of the Roll, which is served in a cup or bowl so you can eat it using a fork; this is the most delicious, gooiest part of the roll; pure bliss.
The chain also serves various drinks to accompany your cinnamon roll; iced blended drink, Arabica coffee, fruity lemonade, iced coffee, a fantastic chillatta, a fruit laced or creamy frosting. So whether it’s something to eat or something to drink, they ensure there is a treat to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
Their prices are also fair and you can expect to pay around $4 for any of their Cinnabon and baked products. In addition, they offer a special Cinnapack of 4 to 6 cinnamon rolls priced within $15 to $20.
